If the school was a kingdom, then Danika Colt was its self professed queen. Well self professed until everyone else began to believe it and support the idea. Very few got in her way, and fewer still were those that challenged her for what she had. More than one girl had their reputations ripped apart when they had even placed a toe over the lines she had set. Of course, though they tended to fear her to her face, the things they said behind her back were worse. But why should Danika care? She had power, money, and the guy that every other girl lusted for.
Perhaps she didn’t really have the guy, but Dani knew how to keep him from straying to far when needed.
Today had been a slow day for her. Dylan had been acting weird as if she was almost avoiding her sister. There was that third year she made cry though. None of this would be traced back to her though. Besides, with money her father contributed to the school nothing short of murder would make the administration aware of anything she did.
No, Danika was on a mission to find her dear sister… or Damien, whoever she ran into first. Neither one of those persons were the ones that she literally ran into while turning a corner to put away some items in her locker.
“Are you blind, or something?” she snapped gathering up the stuff that had fallen out of her arms and bag. “Or do you have selective vision?”

If Gryffon had been shorter, smaller, in any way not quite what he was, he might have been knocked down after what resembled a bull, but with two legs and toned thighs, came thundering around the corner. Fortunately for him though, he was not those things, and apart from taking a step back He remained on his feet, one hand handing the strap of his backpack, the other shoved into his pocket.
When he realised however that he had succeeded in knocking all her books to the floor, and everything else that had been in the girls arm’s he quickly dropped to his knees, helping top pick up her stuff. Well it was his nature, and it was better than just stepping around her and continuing with his walk down the unfamiliar halls of Mort high. Mort high, Dead high…. What a funny name for a school.
He pulled the earphone from his ears as he helped her, not yet looking at her as he picked up her books. “Sorry… what?” he asked, looking up at last into the face of well… he had to admit. She was cut. More than cute. And for a second, he couldn’t find anything to say, just kinda stood there, her books in his hands, and well, not giving them to her. He caught himself though, and repeated his apology, standing up. “Sorry… here. I wasn’t watching…. So ye.”

"Oh great, so you're deaf too," she replied with an icy tone. However she didn't recognize the voice. Which was a big deal for her because Danika knew everyone, which meant this person had to be new. That annoyed her more that she didn't even know there was new people entering the school. One of the things Danika had always been good about was keeping tabs on the comings and goings of the student body. Well, particular student bodies of the male variety. Every guy was new ammunition to through at Damien. Besides, some of them were actually fun to be with at times.
When she looked up all she saw was a fairly attractive guy starring at her as if his mind had self combusted. It would have been flattering if the dumb oaf hadn't run her over to begin with. "Take a picture, it will last longer." Welcome to Mort High, Gryffon Francis. You have just had your first encounter with the resident ice queen. Slipping the items she had back into her bag, she noticed that he wasn't giving her back her books and was apologizing again.
Rolling her eyes, Dani looked at him with an expression of contempt. "You weren't watching? How about next time you try it." Seeing her books in his hands, she looked at them and then lifted her eyebrows. "Look... whoever you are," she began with a flippant wave, "...are you going to steal my books too?" The last thing she wanted to deal with at the moment was whoever this was. She wasn't really about to give her name to him. He'd learn it fast enough around the school.

“huh?” he asked. Perhaps he hadn’t caught himself as quickly as he had thought, she had noticed after all, the unnamed person with, he had to admit, not so pretty scowl. It almost looked misplaced amongst her otherwise pretty features.
Yes, he’d stick to pretty for now.
“Oh, right ye. No.” he handed her books back to her, and now his hands were free again, one hand went back to his strap, the other back to his pocket. “I’m gryffon.” He added with a smile, obviously not guessing yet that he had just encountered the resident queen of cool with a heart of ice and a libido on fire. Oh well, he’d learn soon enough. Not that it would stop him, he could be pretty stubborn.

Rolling her eyes at him, she probably would have yelled at him if he had voiced the thoughts on the scowl. Lately she had been wearing the feature more and more. Things had been changing in her family. Dylan was disappearing off all the time, her father had moved to a separate bedroom while her mother hit the liquor cabinet more and more. What a happy family. Then there was Damien and even pushing his buttons was getting a bit old, not that he had paid her any attention lately.
Giving this new kid a look over, he wasn't bad in her opinion. Probably a stick in the mud, but most people didn't ascribe to her brand of fun.
"That's good for you," she stated at his introduction checking to make sure she had all of her books and papers. Danika wasn't even looking at him as she said it. Gryffon was lucky, Danika made it a habit to cause people to cry on their first day but other things were on her mind at the moment. "Would you mind moving, you're blocking my way to my locker." It wasn't a request, it was cold and snippy. She was used to getting her way and getting it immediately.

“Oh ye, sorry.” Gryff quickly sidestepped out of the way so that she could reach her locker, this person whose name he was yet to learn. That was really the only reason he was still stood here, waiting for her to give him her name in return for his own, but maybe that was only how it worked where he came from. Perhaps here it was customary to keep you guessing.
After a few seconds, he was beginning to reconsider just standing there. A bell was due to go, and he had to make his way towards his first lesson for today. Being his first day, he’d been given first periods off to find his rooms, where he was. Supposedly, he was giving a guide, but gryff had decided he would rather navigate on his own, he would remember easier that way.

"Thanks." Of course it was said in a sarcastic way without any real emotion behind it reflecting gratitude. What was with this guy anyway? He was like some... Clark Kent clone with the manners and the way he was dressed. Struggling with her locker (why did she always get the broken ones) Danika hit the door with the palm of her hand. This was when having Damien around worked out well.
Turning around Danika gave a small smirk. Well she couldn't go if he was going to stand in her way again besides, he looked like he could definitely pry open the door. "Obviously, you're new, Farm Boy," she stated leaning against the bank of lockers. "So some helpful hints, the lockers are crap, the bike sheds are where the future sociopaths and losers of the world hang out, and if you run into a guy named Damien, just walk away." See... she could be slightly nice.
